Microsoft announces the Dynamics 365 and Power Platform 2021 Release Wave 2 Timeline

Microsoft has announced the timeline for the Dynamics 365 and Power Platform 2021 Release Wave 2, the second main wave release of the year. Back in January, the first wave release was announced which saw a variety of exciting new features rollout across the applications. You can find out more about these here:

Similarly, the 2021 Wave 2 Release will bring a range of new capabilities and will roll out between October 2021 and March 2022. There are three key dates to be aware of:

July 14th 2021: Release Plans Available

August 2nd 2021: Early Access Available

October 1st 2021: General Availability

What do the stages in the timeline mean?

Release Plans Available

On July 14^th 2021, the Wave 2 Release Plans will be made available, detailing an initial list of the features and capabilities rolling out from October. In previous releases, any legacy features that are going to be deprecated are also stated within the release plans. With early visibility of the upcoming changes, Partners and customers can prepare for what’s to come with plenty of time.

Early Access Available

From August 2^nd 2021, Wave 2 Early Access will be available for particular features. This will allow administrators to test certain capabilities in a sandbox instance, before they are automatically enabled in October 2021.

General Availability

Deployment of the 2021 Release Wave 2 will commence on October 2^nd 2021 and continue until March 2022. A more detailed schedule of the rollout and regional deployment dates will be published nearer the time, which we will continue to monitor and update you on.
